Ingredients
For the smoothie
1 cup pumpkin or butternut squash puree, previously frozen (I prefer homemade butternut squash puree*)
1 orange, peeled
1 banana, sliced and previously frozen
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
For the toppings
Fresh seasonal fruits such as banana, mango, Clementine, orange, apple, grapes, etc
Toasted or raw seeds such as pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds, etc
Directions
Put the pumpkin pure and the sliced banana in a freezer safe container and freeze for at least 2 hours. Blend all the smoothie ingredients in a blender until smooth. Top with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
*Notes
To make homemade pumpkin or butternut squash puree, cut a small butternut squash or a pumpkin in half and bake in 375 F degree oven for 35-40 minutes, until fork tender. Let it cool completely. Spoon out the flesh and puree with a potato masher or in a food processor.
